Southend United are delighted to announce that its ‘Goals for Carli’ Campaign managed to raise an astonishing £2,689.00 in pledges for the Carli Lansley Foundation.
Led by MidexPRO, Blues’ partners came together for the 2022/23 season to donate for every goal scored by Southend at Roots Hall.
The Carli Lansley Foundation was set up by Blues supporter Karl Lansley and his two young children Jessica and Ethan after tragically losing his wife Carli from Sudden Arrythmic Death Syndrome (SADS) at the age of just 36.
The aim of the foundation is to provide sufficient funds to cover the cost of holding free ECG screenings for young people aged 14-35 in the Southend area and will also be holding a free screening day at Roots Hall on Saturday 24th June 2023.

In response to the campaign, Karl Lansley said: “Ever since Carli tragically passed in 2017, the club has been amazingly supportive of myself and the kids as fans. When we started the Foundation in 2018, that support increased even further and for the past five years, the backing we have received from the club, the players and its staff has been truly humbling.
“In 2022, we were advised of the incredibly kind gesture by the club's sponsors to support us with the ‘Goals for Carli’ campaign. This gave Jess, Ethan and I an even greater reason to cheer every goal scored this season at Roots Hall!
“Shortly after the initiative was announced, our Foundation contacted as many of the sponsors as we could to thank them for their support. Every single penny our charity raises goes to our core aim, which is to provide free ECG screenings to young people, aged 14-35, to help detect any undiagnosed heart conditions.
“All of our screening days, where 100 young people a day can be checked, are held locally. In fact, our next two screening days will be held at Roots Hall.
“So, our Foundation would like to say a HUGE "Thank You" to all of the sponsors for choosing to support our charity this season and they know they have directly impacted the lives of young people within the community.
"We would also like to thank Rylee Doe, and everyone at the club, who worked with the sponsors to arrange this idea. And, finally, we would also like to say thank you to the Southend United fans who have also donated to the "Goals for Carli" campaign.”
Caroline Corrigan, Operations Director at MidexPRO added “MidexPRO are delighted to donate to the Goals for Carli Campaign. ECG screening is so important for people of all ages and if MidexPRO can help to support such a great cause by helping to raise awareness of Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome in the community and support the fundraising initiative then we are happy to do so.
“We send our very best to Karl and his family and hope the Southend United community continues to support this fundraising effort. We also urge those aged 14-35 in the Southend area to take advantage of the free screening day to be held at Roots Hall on Saturday 24th June.”
Perry Rose, Managing Director at Gilbert & Rose commented: “It has been an incredible journey this year, and G&R is thrilled to have been a part of it. We have laid strong foundations for an exciting season ahead and are determined to push for promotion. We are looking forward to the challenges that lie ahead and are confident that with our team's hard work and dedication, we can achieve our goals.”
Glen Eckett, Marketing Manager at Solopress added: “We are delighted to make a donation of £200 to this amazing cause after the team scored ten goals in front of the Solopress North Bank this season.
"On behalf of everyone at Solopress, we would like to wish the Carli Lansley Foundation the very best of luck in achieving their goal to enable 100 young people a day in our local community to receive a free ECG screening.”
David Gracie, Director at Indigo Governance said: “Indigo is proud to be one of Southend United’s partners supporting this incredibly worthwhile charity and making every goal count!”
The club would like to thank the sincere generosity of Blues Partners and supporters who contributed to the campaign, allowing for £3,849.00 to be donated to the Carli Lansley Foundation. Any supporters wishing to further donate to the campaign can do so by clicking here.
