Southend United can confirm Nathan Bishop has completed a move to Manchester United for an undisclosed fee.

Bishop joined Blues at the age of 16 and his hard work and dedication saw him make huge strides in the academy, impressing enough to progress into the first team squad at a young age and eventually making his professional debut as an 18-year-old against Scunthorpe United in 2017.

It was the following season that the shot-stopper had an extended run in the side, featuring 21 times in total before making a further 17 appearances in all competitions this campaign.

His work ethic and attitude has been exceptional during his time at the club and Bishop moves onto pastures new in the Premier League with the best wishes of everyone at Southend United.

After making the next step in his career, the 20-year-old was quick to thank those who have helped him during his time in Essex.

“I’ve loved every second at Southend,” said Bishop. “It was an honour to play for the club.

“I want to thank everyone who I met from managers, coaching staff, the guys in the kitchen and everyone, especially the fans for accepting me and helping me throughout my time at the club.

“I also want to thank Lee Harrison and Ox [Mark Oxley]. Both had a massive part to play in everything that happened for me at Southend and I’m truly grateful for all the help and support they gave me!

“I wish Southend the best of luck for the future.”
